Studies Without Borders (SWB)

Studies Without Borders is a non-profit organization. It was founded by a group of French students in 2003 in order to help their counterparts from war-torn societies come and study in western universities. Since students often lack the means that would allow them to carry their studies through, because of political crisis, conflicts of all kinds, wars or devastations, SWB aims at helping them across the world.

It is true that leaving aside the student population of a country in crisis makes peace and reconciliation seem less likely, compromising that nation's future. That is why encouraging and supporting that age group, sometimes sacrificed, is a crucial preliminary condition for a country's rebuilding and reorganisation. SWB intends to contribute to the achievement of this ambitious task.

SWB is exclusively run by volunteers. Like any other organization aiming to become an NGO, it is a non-political one. Concrete achivements as well as attempts to raise public awareness constitute the political nature of its action.

In order to bring concrete help to Chechen Students, SWB has chosen to welcome some of them to France and give them the opportunity to achieve their studies in a democratic and war-free country. Our SWB branch in Norway wish to contribute by giving Chechen students a opportunity to study also in our country, and thereby expanding the SWB network.

SWB in Norway aims to offer the future students financial and academic help, assists them in their everyday life and help them to prepare their civic projects (independent newspaper, juridical centre, youth organization, etc).
